PPPOE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet)
The abbreviation PPPoE stands for Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet. This protocol can, therefore, establish connections from one point to another via the Ethernet. An Ethernet, in turn, is a local network in which data is transferred very quickly due to the LAN connection.

Features of a PPPoE connection
PPPoE is useful when dialing into the Internet.
The session can easily track due to the protocol.
A username and password may be required to dial in. Different sessions from different computers can be differentiated depending on the user.
The protocol specifies whether it is a PPP session or a discovery.
It describes the establishment of the connection. Various PPPOE packages transmit the necessary information for dialing in.
The PPPoE session, on the other hand, defines the control and setting of the connection, i.e., the duration of the connection.
Thanks to PPPoE, it is easy to control how long the internet connection lasts. A few years ago, this was very practical with ISDN tariffs, which rarely worked with Internet flat rates.
[PPPoE] (Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet) is a specification for connecting multiple users of an Ethernet-based network to a remote location using suitable end devices such as modems. With the help of [PPPoE], all users in an office or building can share a Digital Subscriber Line (DSL), a cable modem, or a wireless Internet connection. [PPPoE] combines the Point to Point Protocol (PPP) – usually used in dial-up connections – with the Ethernet protocol, which supports several users in a local area network. The PPP information gets in Ethernet frames.

Advantages
PPPoE has the advantage that neither the Internet provider nor the telephone company has to provide specialized support. In contrast to dial-up connections, DSL and cable connections are “always-on.” Since several different users share the same physical connection with the service provider. The data traffic must be forwarded to the respective user and billed if necessary. [PPPoE] enables the user PC and the remote server to exchange their addresses at the beginning of each session (this phase is called “discovery”). Once a session establishes, it can be useful for billing purposes. Many apartment houses, hotels, and businesses today offer shared Internet access via Ethernet and PPPoE.
